Mina had a problem. She was afraid of speaking in front of people.
Every Monday, her school had "Share Time." One student would stand on stage and talk about something interesting. Mina always hid behind her friends.
"I can't do it," she would whisper. "Everyone will stare at me. What if I forget my words? What if they laugh?"
Her teacher, Mrs. Chen, noticed. One day, she came to Mina.
"Mina," she said softly, "you have such good ideas. Don't you want to share them?"
Mina shook her head. "I'm too scared."
Mrs. Chen smiled. "Scared is okay. Being brave doesn't mean you're not scared. It means you're scared, but you try anyway."
That night, Mina thought about it. She wanted to tell everyone about her cat, Luna. Luna was the funniest cat in the world!
The next week, when Mrs. Chen asked, "Who wants to share?", Mina's hand went up... slowly.
"I'll do it," she said, her voice tiny.
Friday came. Mina stood backstage. Her heart beat fast. Her hands were cold.
"I can't," she thought. "I'll forget everything."
But then she remembered Mrs. Chen's words: Being brave means you're scared, but you try anyway.
The announcer called, "Please welcome... Mina!"
Mina took a deep breath. She walked to the microphone. She looked at all the faces staring at her.
For one second, her mind went blank.
Then she saw her friends smiling. She saw Mrs. Chen nodding.
"Hi," Mina said. Her voice was quiet, but everyone could hear it. "I want to tell you about my cat, Luna."
And then... the words came.
"Luna thinks boxes are beds. She thinks water is an enemy. She talks to birds outside the window every morning!"
