A little fox lived in a forest.
He loved watching birds fly high up in the sky.
Every morning, he sat on a big rock and looked up.
The birds flew over trees and rivers.
They could see the whole forest from above.
“I wish I could fly too,” said the fox.
“If I had wings, I would fly to the top of the tallest mountain.”
One day, the fox had an idea.
He collected many large leaves.
He tied them to his arms with long grass.
“Now I have wings!” he said happily.
He climbed to the top of a small hill.
He took a deep breath and jumped into the air.
The leaves shook in the wind.
But they could not hold him up.
The fox fell down onto the soft grass.
A squirrel saw him.
“Fox, you cannot fly like birds.
Birds have special wings and light bodies.”
The fox felt sad.
